Sharper Image True Night Vision Binoculars

Our Rating

The night vision binoculars by Sharper Image are a true treat because these binoculars are not just functional for night time viewing, they are also practical for day use.

The binoculars look quite advanced with all of those top positioned buttons and the large LED style view.  The device is matt black with the Sheer Image logo displayed in white on top of the binoculars.

Like most night vision binoculars you don’t get too much in terms of magnification.  The binoculars offer 1 - 2 x magnification and allow you to capture photos and videos in 640 x 480 resolutions.  At night you can view objects at around 300 feet. The day time range is much higher at 1,320 feet.

The binoculars are very easy to use since most functions are simple and straightforward.  The device is also nice and light at less than 2lb which is perfect for stalking animals during night hunts.  You should however also consider the additional weight that 4 AAA batteries contribute to your overall function weight.  Unlike most binoculars that offer individual telescopes for each eye, this one offers you a relatively large screen view and the eyecup is also comfortable and rubbery.

You do get quite a few accessories with the binoculars.  The kit includes a padded neck strap so you can easily carry your binoculars with you without feeling strained.  You also get a carrying pouch that allows you to carry or store your binoculars when not in use.

Final Verdict

These binoculars do make it possible for you to see in the dark when you normally would not be able to see anything.  They offer a good view in green light up to 300 feet and are also functional for occasional use during day time.

It is a perfect binocular specifically for after dark viewing.  The night vision binoculars are handy for various applications such as hunting, game watching, for security purposes around your home or to help you see during night sports such as night runs or night golfing expeditions.

But these binoculars are not the most functional for activities such as bird and wildlife watching, sightseeing, opera and theatre performance watching or for sports watching.  The magnification just isn’t strong enough to offer you much difference during day time and the high battery consumption of the binoculars make them expensive to use for day time viewing.

Despite the restrictions we still recommend the binoculars.  Modern tech just isn’t advanced enough to offer you binoculars that offer spectacular magnification and view and an electronic night vision interface and if it was that advanced then we are quite certain you would have to pay quite a high price for such a pair of binoculars.  These binoculars are functional for the goal which they are intended to - for night time viewing.

With 4 AA batteries loaded, the binoculars do tend to be quite heavy and you will need to replace batteries frequently for continuous use.  For these reasons the binoculars are not too great for full time night watching but rather for quick glances and looks at the environment or to keep an eye on what certain creatures are doing after dark.

If you want to see at night and get a better view despite limited lighting then these can be a valuable addition along with a full size or compact binoculars that you can use during day time. The binoculars are very easy to use which mean that they are suitable for any person of all ages.  They are also available at a rather affordable price and is a superb investment for hunters or for homeowners that want to enhance home security.
